Stories Cold Waters

War Stories from the deep. I have been writing war stories to Operation Flashpoint already back in the good old days of 2001 as seen OFP Screenshots page, in fact I wrote my first war story on Rainbow Six back in May 2000. My Falcon 4 Operation Desert Storm 128 Theater Story is from unknown date, cant even remember the year. Since then I've written just huge amounts of Farming Simulator stories for FS17, FS19 and FS22. I would very much like to write a proper detailed and screenshotted war story for Cold Waters as well. You can watch my Cold Waters campaign play through youtube playlist for some good submarine warfare.

Below you will find my quick summary notes about 2018 game-play on Cold Waters campaigns where I completed both the Soviet 1984 and South China Sea 2000 campaigns.

My Completed Campaigns

2018-06-24 1984 Campaign

Completed 1984 campaign on my second attempt, first attempt when video recording failed due my sub getting destroyed and crew didn't survive. On second attempt I was almost killed, escaped with 12% hull status, that was pretty interesting video for sure.

2018-07-06 South China Sea

2018-07-06 completed south china sea campaign. It was a struggle as I "lost" few missions and always falling behind on the campaign progress as progress is based on points. I had to do SEAL Team insertion and TLAM strike missions twice heh and few others as well, which should have been single ones if won.

Felt great when I completed and WON the campaign as it took so long time (over 12 hours of straight playing). Now I have completed both original 1984 and south china sea campaigns :)

I kind of did fast paced game-play, I did not do the contact classification waterfall demon stuff, I just let computer handle it as I hit time acceleration and waited. I used time acceleration a lot, even times that I would have not used it normally, but I basically was bored to wait some torpedo etc to reach its target.

There is no need for me to try to accomplish the campaigns with harder difficulty level for example where you have to classify the contacts manually, just no point as its after all is such an arcade game.

Good game, sure, I loved it, but yeah the next time I play there has to be some big update kind of like south china sea campaign for me to be interested and bothered.

Oh yeah I captured video of this whole event, it took me 12h 5min (of video material) to play it through and with 4k 60fps 100,000 kbps bitrate video it was 394gb of mp4 files :-)

War Story Idea

2021-05-12

I love documenting stuff with dates, writing web pages with screenshots and stories, videos etc. Idea came to me after writing farming Start From Zero stories for FS17/FS19 that how about me playing Cold Waters and writing down a war story with screenshots documenting all the ships sunk etc. Actually I have same idea for ArmA 3 missions, but that's another category heh.

This would also be interesting documentation about how the campaign works like are each ship/sub individual like the ID numbers or do the campaign just randomly generate those, it would kind of suck if you can sink same identical ship many times in a campaign.

Video series would be cool but also web page war story with screenshots, at least all those exciting action shots where ship is about to be hit with torpedo/harpoon/tasm and then sinking showing the ID number.

Not sure how to capture game-play mission time and date, it is listed in the strategy map but never seen it on 3D mission combat menus. Oh well maybe its not necessary to have it that accurate, although I'd like to have ship sinking times like sub captains log.

When you exit with "leave combat" the after action report lists time and date. Same for entering combat and docking to a harbor.

Maybe one day, maybe one day...
